Symmetry and Surface Area
In this chapter you will explore different kinds of symmetry. You will learn how to use symmetry in solving mathematical problems.
Transformations: moves a geometric figure-translations, reflections, rotations
Translations: Is a slide along a straight line.
Reflection: Mirror Image.
Rotational: Rotated image.

Reflection: Mirror Image.
Rotational: Rotated image.
Center of rotation: The point about which the rotation of an object or design turn.
Rotational Symmetry: Occurs when a shape or design can be turned about it's center rotation so that it fits onto it's outline more that once.
Order of rotation: The number of times a shape or design fits into it's self in one complete turn.
Angle of Rotation: The minimum measure of the angle needed to turn a shape or design on to it's self. It may be measured in degrees or fractions of a turn. To figure out the order of rotation take the number of how many times the shape can go into it self, then divide that number by 360, and you have your order of rotation.

Translation
The process of a shape moving over a few units to the side from it's original shape.
The process of a shape moving over a few units to the side from it's original shape.
Rotation
The process of a shape rotating on a axis from the original shape.
The process of a shape rotating on a axis from the original shape.
Reflection
A mirror image from the original shape.
A mirror image from the original shape.
Rotational Symmetry
The process of the shape being turned into it's self.
The process of the shape being turned into it's self.
Order of Rotation
How many times can this shape fit inside it self? 4 because it is a square.
How many times can this shape fit inside it self? 4 because it is a square.
Angle of Rotation
How many times can this shape fit into it's self? 4 times because it is a square.
Take 360/4 (because you take how many times the shape can fit inside it self and divide that by 360)
Answer would be 90 is the angle of rotation
